If you’ve been following yesterdays thread on avsforum.com you’ll notice a couple of interesting responses here and here from members chefklc and Will Collier. These were in response to 1) asking the community for feedback on the HDPVRCapture application, and 2) having native AC3 support to Quicktime .mov files without down-mixing audio content or losing audio quality.
I walked through Will’s workflow late last night to manually replicate his step-by-step procedure for manually creating .mov then replicated the behavior with Applescript. I plan to add support for this into the HDPVRCapture application and get a demo build up as soon as possible.
Chefklc kindly reminded me that if I want wide spread adoption of an HDPVR application then it has to be suitable for a general audience, not specifically targeted at the technical side of the community. Common sense when you come to think about it. This is what happens when software developers take their eye off of the ball and try to satisfy a smaller group of technical users.
I guess the GUI need developed sooner than I’d previously planned!
I’ll be updating this blog every day as the project progresses so keep checking back. Also, keep watching the avsforum thread for the minute-by-minute blow-by-blow testing and user feedback.
