An important bugfix related to how the PS3 calculates the duration of a recording. Checkout the change log on the release page for more information. As always, a demo is available for download.

One feature improvement that probably should of been in v2.1.0. Checkout the change log on the release page for more information. As always, a demo is available for download.

A mixture of bugfixes, cleanups and small new features. Checkout the change log on the release page for more information. As always, a demo is available for download.

For a number of months I’ve made reference to the fact that I stream my HDPVRCapture recordings to my PS3 over the network. I never have to burn a disk or waste my time with environment unfriendly pieces of plastic. Why should you?

If streaming over the network is something that interests you then I’ve put together a project called HDPVRStreamer here. It’s a donation-ware project based on a great GPL project known as MediaTomb. The software is free and unrestricted.

Two bugfixes. Checkout the change log on the release page for more information. As always, a demo is available for download.

A friend of HDPVRcapture, describing the AC3 passthrough Quicktime problems, writes….

“What’s really annoying about this (as noted in many other places) is that Apple has a working AC3-in-MOV passthrough method that’s up and running on AppleTVs right now. They use it for their own HD “rental” downloads. But they won’t release the info to developers.”

I couldn’t agree more Will.

See the AVSForum thread here.

Cheapest price I’ve ever seen online…. Today and today only, HDPVR’s from Dell at $173. http://www.geektonic.com/2009/02/deal-of-day-hauppauge-hd-pvr-173.html

I’ve been having a lot of discussions related to the Quicktime 7.6 and AC3 passthrough problem.

For one reason or another I’ve been unimpressed with the different Firewire recording applications on the Mac. Head over to AVSForum and checkout the Mac Firewire section of you’re curious.

Scanning through the age old AVCForum thread (which dates back to 2004) you can see an odd mix of applications and a host of rants and raves from the various members. It’s a lively debate. Some apps offer great hardware support but have clunky interfaces. Others have OK interfaces but only offer a small set of features. None of them integrate with TitanTV to allow you to schedule. (Geez guys, come on!)

Sigh, I’m on a quest for a decent Firewire recording app the that average human being can use. What can I do to fix this? AVCNoodle was born out of frustration. I needed an app that sits in the middle ground. Something that isn’t too technical but has enough features to keep the average ‘TV Nut’ happy and recording their shows on a regular basis.

If you’re mildy interested in recording via Firewire on your STB, and would like all of the benefits of high quality Video, checkout the feature list here and/or download a demo from the AVCNoodle product page here

Lastly, why not join us on the AVSForum here and discuss AVCNoodle.

Love it or hate it, I’m all ears. Come along and talk to me, the developer, tell me what you hate and what you like. I’m all ears!
