HDPVRCapture – What is it?

A screenshot of the main window.
HDPVRCapture enables you to record SD or HD H.264/AAC/AC3 via the Hauppauge HDPVR 1212 on your PPC or Intel Mac. If you want an attractive UI then v2 is for you, it’s simple to use.
If you like hardcore, maybe you’re hacking your AppleTV and want to record HD on that, then v1.x is a command line only tool exactly for this. Both are available for download from this site.
It’s simple to install, drag and drop HDPVRCapture into your /Applications folder.
You can playback the recordings in VLC, Plex and other Mac applications, or you can burn the recordings to disk using Roxio’s Toast v10 with AVC / Bluray support.
Still have questions? The FAQ here covers many of the common questions.
Just looking for a demo to download? See the releases and downloads page here.
“I don’t own a HDPVR, can I still download HDPVRCapture and see how it works?”
Yes! Download a release from here and try it. You’ll get a great feel for HDPVRCapture without having to own any the HDPVR encoder.

System Requirements
- Mac OSX 10.4 / 10.5 / 10.6
- Universal Binary PPC or Intel.
- Hauppauge HDPVR 1212 H.264 Hardware Encoder
- Spare USB2 Port. USB1 ports on older Macs (G3) will work, but you will need to keep your video capture bitrates below
11Mbps8Mbps to avoid problems.
Licensing and Conditions
The software is licensed per HDPVR device so if you have multiple devices you will need multiple licenses.
See the Ordering page for more details.
You are free to use the software on as many machines as you like without restriction, but the HDPVR hardware matching the serial number you have registered has to be connected while the HDPVRCapture software is running.
