Avoiding Software Theft

Developers can’t continue to write great software if people are stealing it, using it without payment. As a result, to avoid software theft, I generate license keys specifically for each HDPVR. The license key unlocks all of the features of HDPVRCapture for your specific HDPVR unit. So, as part of the order process I also ask for your HDPVR hardware serial number. This information is private between you and I.

Finding your serial number

How do you find the serial number of your HDPVR USB? The serial number can be found on the bottom of the HDPVR device, under the bar code to the right hand side, it’s the only eight digit number on the bar code label.

You can also find the HDPVR serial number using the Mac’s System Profiler tool, located in the Application / utilities folder. Run the System Profile tool then look under the Hardware / USB / USB High-Speed Bus section. Here’s a screenshot show the serial number for my hardware.
